About this place
A good way to order at Sammi is to choose a soup or jjigae as the centrepiece and add a jeon, or Korean savoury pancake, for everyone to share. One lunchtime diner paired seolleongtang and a bulgogi set meal with a seafood pancake, describing the soup as piping hot to the last spoonful and mild in seasoning. Another visitor singled out the pancake’s crisp surface. One pair finished theirs between them, making it an easy extra to add to a jjigae or set meal.
For something with a little heat, one diner found the sundubu-jjigae just right. The menu also lists doenjang-jjigae, kimchi-jjigae and yukgaejang. The level of spice will vary by dish, and seolleongtang or oxtail soup are other options if you’d prefer a hearty soup. A diner who ordered doenjang-jjigae at lunch reported that it came with rice and banchan, or side dishes, and had a noticeable clam broth; the accompaniments were quickly eaten, too.
For dinner, diners have shared hot pots, including one with octopus and offal, so there are options for a meal built around sharing. The menu lists gamjatang and daechang hot pot, as well as courses combining jeon, japchae and five daily side dishes. You can centre the meal on a hot pot and add a few other plates. Japchae and jeon are also possibilities for a post-meal bite or takeaway; one diner took both home.
